So much heartache, so much devastation and yet, so much courage. As I read about the Syrian Crisis and the millions of Syrian people who are homeless, living in refugee camps and makeshift shelters, I am struck by their resilience and strength.
Even war won’t stop these girls from making their dreams come true, is both confronting and uplifting. The stories, hopes and dreams of these girls are inspirational. Syrian refugees have overcome so much already but I can't help but think that the path of a female Syrian refugee is different to that of a male. As stated in the article, a girl's future is defined by her gender.
Girls are someone else’s future wife, someone else’s future mother,
someone else's free labourer, someone else's something.

"Girls are the foundation of our society. Girls will become mothers and
they will tell their sons and daughters about the value of education.
There is no better investment in society, in the future of entire nations
than investing in a girl's education. When I had to flee Jordan I thought
this will be the end of my life. But it really was the beginning of something
new, the start of my life-long challenge to fight against child marriage and
for education for my fellow, beloved Syrian girls."

Muzzon al-Mellehan is a seventeen year old Syrian refugee living in the Za'atari Camp. She is called the 'Malala of Syria' and campaigns for girls' education. She dreams of being a journalist and in her words, " Education will empower me to help girls." Watch her story here.
So many stories, so much heatbreak yet still there is hope and determination. There are young girls who are dreaming of a brighter and stronger future. Young girls who are prepared to fight for an education.
